Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ-Galapagos)
The mission of the USFQ in the Galapagos Islands is to generate knowledge, educate and train the people who live in the archipelago, promoting the conservation of the environment, the sustainability of the islands and the well-being of the local population. The development of scientific and technological research to promote the management of socio-ecosystems are its main objectives. This institution is recognized for generating multidisciplinary knowledge with global projection, which have contributed to the change in the islands’ economic and social development model.
Galapagos Science Center (GSC)
The GSC was created between the University San Francisco of Quito, Ecuador and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, USA as a research center to develop scientific research projects between local, national and international scientists to benefit the Galapagos Islands. This institution is the only academic research center in the archipelago and represents a unique facility to make research in different scientific areas.
Galapagos National Park (GNP)
Galapagos National Park is the government institution in charge of developing conservation models in the archipelago. The systematic and planned work carried out by the Ecuadorian State through the Directorate of the Galapagos National Park has allowed 95% of its originally registered flora and fauna to be maintained in good condition.
